Coffee of the Month
We strive to find new and interesting coffees from around the world and bring them to you at a fair and reasonable price. Each month, we select a coffee that stands out and is unique in its flavors, farming & processing methods, and the quality you expect from Spiral Horn Coffee. We roast each coffee to find that “perfect spot” where the combination of conductive and convective heat in the roaster makes this particular coffee exhibit all that is has to offer. We hope you enjoy the selection for this month!
January – We present Kenya !
The Gitwe Farmers Cooperative Society was founded in 1983 with about 650 contributing members. Each smallhold farmer grows their coffee, as well as other crops, on land averaging 2-3 acres. Coffee is picked, then brought to the Society immediately for processing. The Cooperative assists its members in seed and fertilizer selection and on-site farming guidance.
When ground and brewed/extracted properly we detect a deep sweetness and tropical fruitiness, raisin, and citrus like bright acidity with cane sugar notes. Smooth, rich, heavier mouthfeel without the bitter aftertaste. A raisin-like sweetness with some tropical and citrus notes that we love.
